Roofing and building in Southampton

Southampton is the biggest city on this stretch of coast, with a working port and a wide mix of housing. Victorian terraces in areas like Portswood and Bevois Valley sit beside Edwardian streets, interwar semis and post-war rebuilding from the wartime bombing.

We cover Southampton for roofs, repairs, chimneys, gutters and flat roofs. A Checkatrade customer in SO19 had us out for a gutter clean and told us the job was quick and for a good price, and only a clean was needed.

Homes and roofs in Southampton

Terraces typically have slate or tile roofs with chimney stacks, and bay windows and flat-roofed back extensions are common. Post-war areas like Woolston, Sholing and Bitterne have a lot of concrete-tiled semis and bungalows, often with flat-roofed garages and porches.

Local weather and your roof

The city sits at the head of Southampton Water, so it is open to the wind off the water, and rain can arrive fast. Salt air is less of a problem inland, but near the water, lead and fixings still weather faster.
